Bethel Farms is a family-owned company with over 4,500 acres of turfgrass production in Florida.

We are interviewing candidates to join our team as an Accountant. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and supporting the organization's accounting and financial operations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and applicable regulations. The Accountant works collaboratively with departments across the organization to provide accurate financial information that supports sound business decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate journal entries and general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and other financial records on a monthly basis 
  • Prepare Intercompany Transactions as needed.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare financial statements and management reports.
  • Review and analyze financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
  • Assist with sales tax and other regulatory filings.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules as needed.
  • Assist with annual audits and provide requested documentation to external CPA.
  • Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain confidential financial information with the highest level of integrity.
  • Participate in special accounting and financial projects as assigned.


Requirements


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional accounting experience required.
  • Experience in agriculture, and multi-location businesses is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Acumatica ERP and Quickbooks Online accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
  • Experience with payroll accounting is a plus.
