Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Department Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our garage door opener manufacturing department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics, preferably with a degree or associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a similar field. The Supervisor will lead a team of technicians and production staff, ensuring that all production processes run smoothly, efficiently, and according to quality standards. This role requires a leader who is both technically proficient and adept at managing people, optimizing workflows, and maintaining a safe and productive environment.




Requirements

  1. Production Oversight: 

  • Oversee the assembly and testing of garage door openers, ensuring adherence to specifications, safety standards, and quality control measures. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the production process, with a focus on electronics, wiring and mechanical integration.
  • Monitor production metrics (output, quality, timelines) and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of equipment, including machinery used in assembly, testing, and packaging.

2. Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervisor and lead a team of production workers, technicians, and assembly staff within the garage door opener department. 
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to employees on production techniques, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.  
  • Develop and implement schedules to ensure production targets are met while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Foster a collaborative, productive, and positive work environment that promotes employee engagement and development.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to employees.

3. Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure all products meet company quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation to ensure products are built correctly.
  • Coordinate with quality control teams to resolve any defects and implement process improvements.

4. Safety & Process Improvement:

  • Maintain a strong focus on safety within the department, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, driving change within the department to enhance efficiency, quality, and employee morale.

5. Reporting & Documentation:

  • Provide regular updates to senior management regarding production status, challenges, and personnel needs.
  • Document reduction reports, employee performance records, safety compliance, and equipment maintenance logs. 

Education & Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent technical certifications and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or electronics environment (experience with garage door openers or similar products is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of electronics, circuit boards, wiring systems, and electro-mechanical devices.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of electronics, particularly in the context of consumer products and mechanical-electrical integration.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and best practices in manufacturing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with standard office software.
  • Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
