About Good Shepherd Community Clinic

At Good Shepherd Community Clinic, we believe care starts long before a provider walks into the exam room.

It starts at the front door.
It starts at the check-in desk.
It starts with how someone is greeted when they are nervous, overwhelmed, or unsure if they even belong in a healthcare setting.

We exist so that the working poor and others who lack access to healthcare can receive quality care and better health outcomes. Our vision is simple and bold: To show the world what care should feel like.

At GSCC, people are never treated like numbers, appointments, or problems to be processed. Our culture is built on Connection and Ownership. That means caring deeply about people and following through on what we say we will do.

The Heart of This Role
The Patient Advocate is often the very first person a patient meets and the last person they remember.

This role sets the tone for the entire visit.

Patient Advocates help patients feel welcomed, respected, and supported from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. They guide patients through check-in and check-out, help them understand what comes next, and make sure no one leaves confused, embarrassed, or feeling invisible.

This is not just a front desk job.
It is a relationship-based role that directly impacts whether patients trust us, return for care, and stay connected to their health.

What This Role Looks Like, Day to Day
In this role, CONNECTION means:

You greet patients with warmth and consistency, knowing that small moments create lasting impressions.
You treat people like people, not appointments or paperwork.
You explain next steps clearly, kindly, and without rushing.
You help patients even when their needs do not fit neatly into a checklist.
You understand that how patients are treated up front influences whether they return.

OWNERSHIP means:

You take pride in getting check-in and check-out right.
You handle insurance and copays accurately and respectfully, protecting patient dignity during financial conversations.
You make sure patients leave knowing exactly what happens next.
You solve problems when you can and escalate when you should, without passing people off.
You ensure patient information is complete, accurate, and up to date at every visit.

Who Thrives Here
This role is a great fit for someone who:

  • Enjoys helping people feel calm, cared for, and understood
  • Communicates clearly and kindly, even in sensitive situations
  • Pays attention to details and follows through
  • Can juggle multiple tasks while staying patient-focused
  • Believes healthcare should feel human
  • Wants to be part of a mission-driven team, not just a job

Experience in customer service, healthcare front desk, or other patient-facing roles is helpful.
Fluency in both Spanish and English is a strong plus.

Why People Choose Good Shepherd
People come to GSCC because they want their work to matter.

If you believe how care feels is just as important as the care itself,
If you want to make a difference the moment someone walks through the door,
If you are ready to help show patients what care should feel like,

We would love to meet you.
