Position Title: Software Engineer

Location: Annapolis Junction, MD

Reports To: Program Manager

Job Type: Full-time

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph

Summary:

As a Software Engineer for a recently awarded government contract, you are the architect of the highly complex systems that drive our mission forward. We are looking for a creative problem-solver who enjoys building, maintaining, and transforming complex, processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithms, and cloud-scale environments. You will ensure the scalability, performance, and operational excellence of our codebases, working alongside technical leads and system architects to engineer mission-critical components.

This role will support and represent LufCo with our industry partners within the Ft. Meade market. At LufCo, you’ll do more than fill a role—you’ll help build what’s next. Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user and system requirements to derive complex software design, performance metrics and interface constraints.
  • Design, code, test and modify new software solutions or enhance existing software to adapt to new hardware, optimize performance, and integrate components into modified operating systems.
  • Develop and implement advanced mathematical algorithms, structural data repositories, and complex databased queries that meet strict timing and system resource boundaries.
  • Incorporate Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) functionality to optimizr software design and architecture reuse.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership to software development teams, delegate responsibilities, choose appopriate development processes, and perform rigorous quality control checks on final team deliverables.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 4 years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processed may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

  • SWE0: 0+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • SWE1: 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • SWE2: 14+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • SWE3: 20+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.

Technical Skills:

  • Core Engineering Languages: High proficiency in Java SE, Python, Git, Shell/bash scripting, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Frameworks & Back-End: Practical knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Tool Suite, Hibernate, MySQL, Web Services, Jenkins, Nexus, Maven, JUnit, and IDE environments.
  • Cloud & Devops: Hands-on experience with container platforms and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) along with GitLab CI and SonarQube automated CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Methodology: Extensive experience operating within an Agile development framework to deploy a new functional capability inside every Sprint cycle.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Standard office environment with occasional requirements to visit client sites, labs, or field environments.
