Job Description:
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance, Vanpool or designee, the Contract Carrier Maintenance Specialist is responsible for conducting fleet inspections, writing fleet inspection correspondence, and reviewing monthly reports for Contract Carrier properties. Essential functions include:
- Providing support for contract carrier properties regarding the operation and maintenance of the vehicles and equipment.
- Reviewing reported issues, track issues, analyzes warranties and warranty-related items, and reports if warranty issues should be pursued.
- Monitoring day-to-day operation of contract carrier properties ensuring compliance with Pace rules and regulations.
- Responding to all emergency calls and related investigations for these properties and assists its personnel with facility-related matters.
- Assisting with new bus acceptance and inspections.
- Assisting senior inspectors with engine/transmission related items as well as bus renovation projects and retrofit campaigns.
- Assisting with matters relating to maintenance in the Vanpool Department.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Age:
Must be 21 years of age or older.
Education:
Qualified candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalency; trade school certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
Experience:
Must have 3-5 years of progressive "hands-on" experience in bus maintenance or a related field, with extensive, in-depth working knowledge of all diesel coach systems, shop procedures, and equipment. In addition, 1-3 years of administrative experience is preferred.
Certifications:
Must possess (or obtain within 6 months of date of hire) DOT certification.
Must have (or obtain within 6 months of date of hire) a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement.
Proficiencies:
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to read and interpret schematics. Must demonstrate basic proficiency utilizing Microsoft suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), experience with Oracle is preferred. Must have a good work record.
Physical Requirements:
ability to sit for extended periods of time, type on a computer, drive to locations within Pace’s service area and out of region as needed, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both office setting and garage environments, and may involve exposure to loud noises, noxious odors, and outdoors in inclement weather conditions. Must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for emergency service.
This position is not eligible for a hybrid work schedule or remote work.
Salary
Full Salary Range: $50,467-$110,273
Midpoint: $80,370
Anticipated Starting Salary Range: $65,418-$80,370
