Job Description Summary
The Materials Management Project Leader is responsible for leading strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects that improve material planning, inventory management, procurement processes, and supply chain execution. This role serves as the primary liaison between Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Sourcing, and Commercial teams to ensure successful project implementation, operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and continuity of supply.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead complex materials management and supply chain projects from initiation through implementation and sustainability.
- Develop and maintain material requirements plans (MRP) to support production schedules and customer demand.
- Develop project plans, timelines, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to ensure successful execution.
- Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, packaging, and indirect materials.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive project deliverables and remove barriers impacting project performance.
- Support new product introductions, material qualifications, supplier/materials onboarding, and manufacturing transfers.
- Drive inventory optimization initiatives that improve material availability, reduce excess inventory, and enhance inventory accuracy.
- Lead process improvement efforts utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Own/lead change controls, investigations, CAPAs, and risk assessments related to materials and supply chain operations.
- Analyze supply chain performance data and implement corrective actions to improve service, quality, and cost metrics.
- Facilitate project reviews, stakeholder communications, and executive-level updates.
- Establish and monitor project KPIs, ensuring timely achievement of milestones and business objectives.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Operations Management.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in materials management, supply chain planning, operations, or project management.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects in a regulated manufacturing or healthcare environment.
Desired Characteristics
- PMP, APICS (CPIM/CSCP), Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certification.
- Experience within pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device, or other regulated industries.
- Knowledge of GMP, quality systems, deviation investigations, CAPA management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Supply Chain Optimization
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of inventory control, material planning, procurement, and supplier management.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced execution-driven environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities.
