OVERVIEW

The USCRI Administrative Intern will work closely with the Executive Office by learning administrative functions and assisting with current projects. This position will assist with records management, daily administrative operations of the office, workflow, and collaborate with other departments to help with research. 

Subject to overall organizational needs, interns will be placed in departments that align with their academic background and career interests, such as:

  • Executive Office 
  • Legal Services
  • Communications
  • Policy and Advocacy
  • Refugee Resettlement
  • Anti-Trafficking

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Executive Office Assistant and organize and manage day-to-day HQ office operations and procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to Executive staff, including preparing agendas, itineraries, and other communication pieces with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Assist in providing general office support (postal mail, eFax, postage meter, etc.).
  • Review the general voicemail inbox and eFax inbox twice daily and distribute incoming information. 
  • Collect, open, and distribute daily postal and UPS mail, and distribute accordingly, and help prepare mailings and shipments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and pleasant appearance of the supply room/areas.
  • Support the Chief of Staff with administrative tasks as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, and displaced people.
  • High school Diploma 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and database programs is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently as well as in collaboration with others are required.
  • A good sense of humor and a pleasant, diplomatic manner are desired.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
