  • The position requires candidates to have or be eligible for Virginia licensure and must be endorsed in music.
  • A dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates should have experience working with a diverse student population and successful teaching experience in General music instruction.
  • The salary for this position will be determined based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule.
  • Applicants must possess strong communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications 

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
  • Must be endorsed in music.
  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.

Experience 

  • Experience working with diverse student population
  • Successful teaching experience and curricular knowledge.
  • Experience implementing best practices in General music Instruction.

Responsibilities 

  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Prepare students for school, pyramid and outside performance opportunities.
  • Participate in pyramid festival yearly for feeder schools.
  • Provide effective communications between and among school staff, Arts Education Supervisor, students, parents and community.
  • Flexible, dependable, and highly organized.
  • Desire to work with diverse community of learners.
  • Work effectively with fine arts team.
  • Effectively maintain music website.
  • Provide outreach opportunities to grow quality program.
  • Must be team oriented and able to work cohesively with others and meet timelines.
  • Must be organized with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must provide minimum of 2 school based performances.
  • Must attend county wide Arts Education professional development.
  • Provide choral pullout program to grade 4/5 students.
  • Stay current with arts related technology and best practices.

 

Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule
