COMPENSATION:
We offer a generous employee benefits package in addition to cash compensation. Our hiring range for this role is $25.69-$28.90 hourly, equivalent to an annual range of $53,440-$60,120. JOB SUMMARY:Â
The Development Coordinator provides essential administrative and operational support for the Air & Space Forces Association’s fundraising program. This position is responsible for processing donations, preparing donor acknowledgements, maintaining accurate donor records, and conducting prospect research to support annual fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering outstanding donor stewardship while supporting the organization's mission. This position is an excellent introduction to nonprofit fundraising, and a successful candidate will be provided with learning and growth opportunities as core competencies are met. This position will report to the VP, Philanthropy and works closely with the entire development team.Â
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Â
Donation Entry and Database Management (25%):Â
• Process donations accurately and in a timely mannerÂ
• Enter and maintain donor and gift information in Salesforce (AFA’s CRM)Â
• Ensure data integrity by updating donor records, contact information, and giving historyÂ
• Generate reports related to fundraising activities and donor givingÂ
• Reconcile gift records with finance staff as neededÂ
• Recommend development process modifications to improve gift entry and reporting processes as neededÂ
Donor Acknowledgement and Stewardship (25%):Â
• Write and facilitate timely gift acknowledgment letters, new donor welcome packets, and tax receiptsÂ
• Personalize correspondence to ensure a positive donor experienceÂ
• Serve as an initial point of contact for members, donors, and stakeholdersÂ
• Assist with donor recognition and stewardship activitiesÂ
Prospect Research (25%)Â
• Conduct prospect research on individuals, foundations, and corporations using publicly available resources and paid research toolsÂ
• Prepare prospect profiles and briefing materials for development staff and organizational leadershipÂ
Assist in identifying new donor prospects and qualify existing donors for cultivation and solicitationÂ
Development Operations (25%)Â
• Assist with data and list preparation to support annual fund campaigns and special appeals through direct mail, email, social media, and webÂ
• Provide department administrative support and perform other duties as assignedÂ
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:Â
Education and Experience Required:Â
• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management or related field Â
OR Â
• 1-2 Years of related experienceÂ

WORKING CONDITIONS:Â
• Works out of Air & Space Force Association’s headquarters in Arlington, VA.Â
• Typical weekly office schedule is hybrid, requiring three eight-hour days in the office each week with two telework days.Â
• Operates in a professional office environment with occasional travel to local events.Â
• Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.Â
• Must be able to work overtime and travel as needed.Â
Physical Demands: Â
The position requires sedentary work (sitting most of the time with no adverse environmental exposure) and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The position also includes the following physical requirements: Â
• Movement: The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and may require travel to event locations and movement in varied locations. Â
• The employee in this position needs to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and printer. Â
