The E-Space Manufacturing Solar Team builds the world's most advanced aerospace products.Ā Ā 

TheĀ Senior Technician will rely on superb ā€˜hands-on’ mechanical and electrical ability to diagnose and repair electro-mechanical components of thin film semiconductor equipment.Ā Ā He will be expected toĀ assistĀ with modification, installation andĀ rebuildĀ of critical components for vacuum equipment, including valves, actuators, motors, pumps,Ā sensorsĀ and power supplies.Ā Skillful use of power and hand tools isĀ required, in addition to electrical test ability using volt-ohm-amp meters, ability to readĀ schematicsĀ and understand technical documentation.Ā 

ThisĀ individual will be one of a small team of ā€œgo-to expertsā€ who become critical when ā€˜something stopped working right’,Ā or when disassembly, modification andĀ rebuildĀ areĀ required, followed by test before start-up.Ā Ā TheĀ Senior TechnicianĀ willĀ work closely with equipmentĀ and maintenance engineers, process engineersĀ to allow complex equipment to perform reliably.Ā 

This position is based in Arlington, TX. In order to be successful in this role, you must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Occasional travel may be required as well.Ā Ā

What you'll be doing:
  • Follow written or verbalĀ instructionĀ for careful modification,Ā replacementĀ or installation of critical electrical and mechanical components on complex equipment.Ā 

  • Disassemble and diagnose failed components, and when necessary, make decisions to ā€œrepair vs. replaceā€.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Diagnose causes of failure and decide on actions to repairĀ Ā 

  • Rebuild and install deposition sources that include complexĀ mechanicalĀ parts, specialty materials, and electrical connections.Ā 

  • Diagnose problems based on close examination of mechanicalĀ assemblies,Ā processĀ characteristicsĀ and software diagnostics.Ā 

  • Measure voltages,Ā currentsĀ or resistances asĀ requiredĀ toĀ identifyĀ componentĀ problems.Ā 

  • Support scale-up from lab or pilot systems to high-volume roll-to-roll production.Ā 

  • Support performance improvement initiatives targeting efficiency, yield,Ā reliability,Ā and reproducibility.Ā 


What you will bring to this role:
  • BS in Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field,Ā orĀ havingĀ significant relevant industry experience.Ā 

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience inĀ repair and replacement of electrical and mechanical components.Ā 

  • Analytical mind with strongĀ mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability for complex equipment.Ā 

  • Skillful ā€˜hands-on’ ability with hand tools, powerĀ toolsĀ and electrical measuringĀ instruments.Ā 

  • Ability to workĀ safely andĀ effectively in a multidisciplinary manufacturing and R&D environment.Ā 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.Ā 

  • Ability to read and understand technical maintenance and assembly instructions, electricalĀ schematicsĀ and mechanical drawings.Ā 


Extra points for the following:
  • ExperienceĀ workingĀ withĀ hardwareĀ inĀ systems run under PLC control.Ā 

  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment and operations.Ā 

  • Understanding ofĀ motor control systems, gear heads, driveĀ systems.Ā 

  • Skilled with documentation using MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).Ā 

  • Skills with mechanicalĀ and electricalĀ designĀ software such asĀ SolidWorksĀ orĀ AutocadĀ Electrical.Ā

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Arlington, TX office.Ā

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
