Our client-oriented approach, coupled with our profound and relevant subject matter expertise, enables us to bring an incisive edge to solving the most critical national security problems.Our Homeland Security Line of Business is actively seeking an Emergency Management Analyst to support emergency management clients with data-driven program analysis, assessment, and evaluation; training design and development; development of guidance and tools; and communications and programmatic support. Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of demonstrated professional experience with familiarity of emergency management recovery and resilience principles/programs for federal, state, and local stakeholders (a master’s degree can be substituted for two years of experience).

This candidate must be located in the DC metro area for frequent on-site client meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Support analytical and research activities as part of an integrated client delivery team serving federal emergency management and homeland security clients.
  • Conduct research, gather information from multiple sources, and assist in the development of assessments, reports, presentations, training materials, and other client deliverables under the guidance of project leadership.
  • Analyze and synthesize complex qualitative and quantitative information into clear, concise, and actionable products for government stakeholders.
  • Apply basic quantitative and qualitative analytical methods to support policy, guidance, program evaluation, and organizational improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of reports, briefing materials, and decision-support products related to current and emerging FEMA policies, guidance, and emergency management programs.
  • Support data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting efforts to inform policy development, guidance updates, and program performance assessments.
  • Review, analyze, and incorporate stakeholder feedback into policy, guidance, and related documentation.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of research activities, including interviews, focus groups, surveys, workshops, and document reviews to identify best practices, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support assessment of disaster management, preparedness, response, recovery, and training programs through data analysis and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Develop professional presentations, visualizations, graphics, and other communication products using Microsoft PowerPoint and related tools.
  • Produce well-written deliverables with a strong attention to detail, including reports, memoranda, assessments, guidance, briefing papers, and meeting summaries.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of work products to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and adherence to project standards.
  • Support project coordination activities, including meeting preparation, note-taking, action-item tracking, and stakeholder communications.
  • Analyze existing processes and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and support the development of recommendations to enhance programs.
  • Maintain awareness of FEMA doctrine, emergency management policies, and emerging issues relevant to client priorities and project objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, social sciences, journalism, homeland security, emergency management, or other relevant field and a minimum one year of professional experience, with relevant professional experience supporting policy-related projects; preference given to those with experience in homeland security, and emergency management (Master’s Degree can be substituted for two years of experience).
  • Strong interest in emergency management and recovery mission areas.
  • U.S. Citizen with ability to earn a favorable Public Trust clearance and/or DHS Suitability.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong research, analysis, and communication (written and oral) skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in relevant software programs, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Available to attend on-site client meetings in the DC metro area.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000. The actual salary will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
