Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Cook/Aide to join our team. Position Summary

The Dietary Cook/Aide is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with approved menus, recipes, dietary requirements, and food safety standards. This role plays an essential part in supporting the health and well-being of our patients through exceptional food service and a commitment to quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals and beverages according to established menus, recipes, and daily production schedules.
  • Ensure meals are visually appealing, flavorful, and served on time according to posted meal schedules.
  • Accurately prepare foods for modified and therapeutic diets, consulting with the Dietary Manager as needed.
  • Follow appropriate food handling, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, service, and storage.
  • Monitor and document refrigeration and dish machine temperatures according to established schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, dining room, dish room, freezer, and storage areas.
  • Properly label, date, and store food items.
  • Adhere to portion control guidelines and minimize food waste.
  • Assist patients during meal service by supporting nutritionally balanced food selections.
  • Promote positive working relationships with patients, coworkers, and facility staff.
  • Assist with dishwashing and other departmental duties as assigned by the Cook or Dietary Manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of all food preparation and dining areas throughout the day.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Food Handler Certification required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • De-escalation Training: Handle with Care (HWC) certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of commercial food service experience, preferably in a healthcare or behavioral health setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and professional excellence.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
