Position Overview
Halvik is seeking a Jr. Strategic Planner. This individual will assess strategic documents and the impact on the ARNG's strength, programs, and policies. You will review and provide improvement recommendations to Army Component Operations Plans (OPLANs), Contingency Plans (CONPLANs), manpower concept plans, and similar documents for consistency with, and incorporation of, ARNG strategic plan and objectives for ARNG future transformation and utilization.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct reviews of strategic documents, including NDS, NMS, The Army Plan, and related planning guidance
- Assess update to Army publications for potential impact on Army National Guard roles and responsibilities
- Track and monitor think tank, academic, and policy events relevant to the Army National Guard strategic posture
- Draft concise information papers and executive summaries capturing policy changes, risk and opportunities
- Support briefing material development for DARNG and senior leadership based upon strategic document.
- Participate in working groups or strategic planning events as needed to provide analytic input
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred
- Must possess an active Secret clearance
- This role is on-site in Arlington, VA.
- Experience:
- 5+ years' experience in analyzing the National Defense Authorization Act, National Military Strategy and other strategic documents.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in the production of information papers and briefings
- Experience with SIPR and NIPR research tools and maintaining classification control
- Strong understanding of the Army National Guard mission, structure, and integration with Federal defense planning
- Familiarity with policy tracking, stakeholder coordination, and risk identification in strategic environments
- Ability to operate independently in both classified and unclassified environments
