For People is a team of skilled technologists improving government digital services for disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. We embed directly in government agencies to modernize software, systems, and platforms so that they better serve people.

Your Impact

As a Medicaid Policy and Program Strategist at For People, you will be the operational owner of how we engage with, gather insights, and support our federal and state Medicaid partners and programs. You will look at the big picture of Medicaid program operations, identify where information gaps exist, and support the infrastructure for improvement. You will design workflows, foster relationships, and ensure that state and federal insights inform our digital services work. Your work will enable government analysts and decision-makers to efficiently assess and evaluate data, ultimately supporting Medicaid policy decisions and enhancing healthcare outcomes for millions of Americans. If you are a process-minded problem solver with high emotional intelligence, we want you on our team!

Our Culture

For People is a team of humans. We place a significant amount of emphasis on positive work-life balance, setting healthy expectations, and making sure our loved ones are taken care of first. That means picking a child up from school during the day or going for a mid-day walk is okay!

This is a 6-month independent contractor (1099) position. This role is 100% remote, open to candidates located anywhere within the United States. Candidates must be U.S. citizens per our government client's requirements and be able to pass a federal public trust background check.

Your Opportunities

As a Medicaid Policy and Program Strategist, you will:

  • Act as a translator between technical teams, policy experts, state administrators, and federal stakeholders, turning dense government or technical concepts into friendly, accessible, and actionable guidance.
  • Collaborate across policy, product, and engineering to align regulatory goals with delivery realities, ensuring that digital tools effectively support policy implementation and real-world needs.
  • Manage and oversee our state Medicaid partner support channels.
  • Identify opportunities for process or product improvements to federal programs supporting Medicaid data tools.
  • Build, templatize, and continuously improve how we interact with our Medicaid partners to ensure consistency and clarity.
  • Identify operational trends and use your sharp judgment to know exactly when an issue requires a conversation with leadership or internal partners.
  • Coordinate closely with federal partners to keep cross-agency efforts aligned and moving forward smoothly.
  • Advocate for Medicaid program needs by absorbing the realities of state-level administration and translating those insights back to our product and engineering teams.

You Bring

  • A humble and caring attitude aligning with For People’s values – how we work with passion, fun, curiosity, sustainability, humility, and respect.
  • 4+ years of working in or with Medicaid programs at the state or federal level
  • A natural eye for ways to build efficiency. Where others see a messy workflow, you see an opportunity to build a scalable process.
  • A collaborative attitude, highly diplomatic nature, and a comfort in navigating complex stakeholder dynamics
  • Excellent writing and speaking abilities, who values warmth, clarity, and approachability in your professional communications.
If you're passionate about modernizing government and ready to make Medicaid and CHIP data more accessible, accurate, timely, and secure, we encourage you to apply.
