The Network Operations team is responsible for maintaining the health of Amazon’s Retail and Web Services network. This team plays a critical role in network scaling and responding to operational changes in the network, determining root cause, and working with internal teams and external vendors/ISPs with the goal of returning to a fully operational state. Additionally, the Network Operations team is responsible for performing changes to maintain the reliability of the network as it scales.
Key job responsibilities
Network Capacity Planning
* Responsible for core networks capacity planning
* Ensure network redundancy and long-term availability across the CLOS fabric
Operational Excellence
* Providing with the first response to monitoring systems alarms, and works to stabilize impact as quickly as possible across the Amazon network
* Troubleshoot routing and interconnectivity problems – including troubleshooting of network device hardware failures
* Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform problems
* Collaborate with internal teams to diagnose problems, and return devices/configurations to a healthy state
* Escalate to external vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc) to diagnose problems and facilitate part replacement
* Work with ISPs to diagnose problems between Amazon’s network and their infrastructure.
* Provide support in large scale events
Change Management
* Focus on the needs of the customer in all change scenarios
* Help to determine requirements, then write, review and execute changes safely
* Collaborate with driving standards across the network, and ensure that we are fully compliant to standards and policies.
* Work with invested teams to scope change work and deliver to a deadline
Automation
* Look for automation opportunities in troubleshooting and administration tasks
* Work with System Developers to scope tools that meet the Network Operation team’s needs.
Continued Improvement
* Create and review documentation for processes and troubleshooting best practices
* Identify simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes
* Involvement in the interviews for entry level positions

About the team
Capacity Management Team sits within the DCF Organization and are responsible for all aspects of planning the core networking datacenter network. The team is located between Washington and Dublin. The team has overall responsibility of capacity planning and scaling to support the datacenter core networks. The team ensures there are defined transition plans, maximizing the cost effectiveness of our topologies for the full lifecyle from initial designs to decommissioning. We use the latest hardware to provide the best user experience for customers. Basic Qualifications: - 5+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience Preferred Qualifications: - CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional-Security) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional), or Bachelor's degree
- industry standard certification (CompTIA, CCENT, or Network+), or experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Networking Engineering)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
