Human Resources announces an opening for (1.0) Administrator with the Department of School Support. This is a full-time, in-person, Grade P-14 position. 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES 

 Manages and works collaboratively with parents, staff and students to support the design and implementation of Individual Education Plans. 

SUPERVISION 

 Work is performed under general direction of the Executive Principal. Supervision is exercised over a small to moderate component of teachers, assistants, support staff and students.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE CLASS (May not include all duties performed, not all incumbents perform all functions delineated.) 

 Studies the educational needs of the community and students served by the school and supports developing plans for meeting these needs. 

 Adapts APS-approved educational programs to the needs of the community served, including special programs.  

 May direct or support administration with the preparation of a master schedule for the implementation of an educational program with optimum use of facilities and staff.

Supervises the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and materials. 

 Provides for continuing supervision and evaluation of faculty and administrative and support staff. 

 Directs the development and implementation of staff development and training programs. 

 Reports to the appropriate source regarding the school's needs with respect to personnel, curriculum, equipment, and supplies. 

 Performs a variety of administrative duties related to student transportation, building and facilities utilization and maintenance, and cafeteria operations. 

 Directs the preparation of reports, forms and surveys and the maintenance of inventory and other records. 

 Supervises the planning, management, and financing of the student activities program and related community activities, attending or arranging for designees at all activities. 

 Interprets School Board policies for students, staff, and community. 

 Consults with and coordinates the services of area and central office resource personnel to ensure availability of effective assistance to classroom teachers. 

 Performs related duties as required or assigned.  

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

 Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of modern public education and an ability to apply them to the needs of the school. 

 Comprehensive knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices and trends in alternative/continuing education. 

 Thorough knowledge of public-school administration and organization. 

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate teaching, support services, student activities and school-community relations programs. 

 Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and administer the programs and services of an alternative school. 

 Ability to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of professional and support staff. 

 Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all constituencies involved in the school community served. 

 Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the general public. 

 Excellent organizational, human relations and communication skills. 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

 

Completion of a master's degree in school administration plus extensive and progressively more responsible experience as a teacher and assistant principal or coordinator, some of which shall have related to assignment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and ability. 

 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION 

 

Postgraduate Professional License with one or more subject area teaching endorsements.  

 Administrative and supervision PreK-12 endorsement. 

SALARY

  • Salary range: $106,216 to $174,090 based on the 25/26 pay plan.
