Overview

Nakupuna Consulting, a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO), is seeking a highly experienced Senior Kanban Coach to support a government customer in a mission-critical environment. The successful candidate will provide expert-level coaching, consulting, and training to teams and leadership while helping mature Kanban practices across the organization. This role requires deep hands-on experience with Kanban at scale, tooling expertise in JIRA and Confluence, and the ability to operate effectively within Department of Defense (DoD) environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Kanban coaching to delivery teams, leadership, and stakeholders in a government environment
  • Deliver consulting services focused on improving flow, predictability, and system-wide performance
  • Design and conduct Kanban training sessions, workshops, and coaching engagements
  • Develop original Kanban training materials, playbooks, guidance, and reference documentation
  • Serve as a JIRA Administrator, configuring Kanban boards, workflows, dashboards, and metrics
  • Create, maintain, and curate Agile/Kanban content and knowledge repositories in Confluence
  • Analyze current processes and recommend improvements aligned with Lean and Kanban principles
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across programs and portfolios
  • Work within DoD security, compliance, and governance requirements

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Kanban Coach, Agile Coach, or equivalent role
  • Extensive experience in coaching, consulting, training, and original content creation
  • Advanced, hands-on experience with JIRA administration supporting Kanban implementations
  • Strong experience developing structured documentation and content using Confluence
  • Kanban University certifications (e.g., KMP I/II, AKT, KCP, or equivalent)
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs
  • Direct experience working with the U.S. Navy (command, program office, or contractor support)
  • Experience in government contracting environments
  • Experience with SAP (implementation, integration, reporting, or operational use)
  • Experience coaching within large, complex, or regulated organizations

Education/Experience: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

 

Additional Information:

  • Employment may be extended beyond the initial 6-month period based on performance and government need.

Clearance Requirements: Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

 

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
