HAYPP GROUP

At Haypp Group, we’re driven by a higher purpose: to help put an end to smoking. With more than 1 billion people still smoking globally, our goal is to empower adult nicotine users to make less harmful choices. We do this by being the go-to online retailer for safer nicotine alternatives. Haypp Group is one of the Nordic region’s leading e-commerce retailers in safer nicotine alternatives, with 17 digital storefronts across 7 countries. Our U.S. business is our fastest-growing market, and we’ve served millions of customers through our dedicated U.S. site, Nicokick.

With around 280 team members across Europe and the U.S., we’re now scaling our local operations in Arlington, Virginia. We’re an innovative, fast-moving company where ideas are welcomed, collaboration matters, and people are encouraged to make an impact.

THE ROLE

As we continue expanding in the U.S., we’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel – Regulatory & Commercial to join our legal team and support our growing U.S. business. You’ll provide practical legal and regulatory advice across marketing, e-commerce, privacy, consumer protection, commercial operations, and regulated nicotine products. Working closely with teams across the business, you’ll help turn complex federal and state requirements into clear, actionable guidance while enabling the business to move quickly and responsibly. This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working independently, managing a varied workload, and building scalable legal and compliance processes.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Arlington, Virginia, with in-office collaboration Tuesday through Thursday.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Lead the legal review of marketing, advertising, websites, product content, promotions, affiliate materials, and customer communications
• Advise business teams on regulatory, privacy, consumer protection, and e-commerce matters
• Develop and maintain U.S. data privacy compliance programs, including consumer rights, consent mechanisms, tracking technologies, and disclosures
• Advise on subscriptions, pricing and promotional disclosures, cancellation practices, age verification, and regulated online sales
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documents
• Research federal and state requirements and translate them into practical business guidance
• Develop policies, procedures, training materials, and scalable legal review processes
• Support the continued development of the U.S. legal function and manage relationships with outside counsel
• Stay current on regulatory developments affecting nicotine products, e-commerce, marketing, privacy, and consumer protection

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
• 5+ years of relevant legal, regulatory, compliance, or public policy experience
• Experience in marketing and advertising, consumer protection, data privacy, e-commerce, or regulatory compliance
• Strong legal research, writing, drafting, and communication skills
• Ability to turn complex legal requirements into clear, practical business advice
• Strong judgment and the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Commercial mindset and strong collaboration skills

A BONUS IF YOU ALSO BRING

• In-house experience or experience working closely with business teams
• Experience in e-commerce, consumer products, or another regulated industry
• Experience with tobacco, nicotine, or other FDA-regulated products
• Experience building privacy or compliance programs
• Experience with federal and state advertising and consumer protection requirements
• Employment law experience

YOU WILL PROBABLY THRIVE HERE IF YOU

• Enjoy taking ownership and working independently
• Like being a practical business partner, not just a legal advisor
• Enjoy turning complex regulation into clear and actionable guidance
• Thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
• Are comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and priorities
• Enjoy working cross-functionally and building strong relationships

We are a value-driven company with our values—We team up, Innovation Drives Us, Inclusion and Non-Hierarchy, and Going the Extra Mile—at the heart of everything we do. You can expect a collaborative environment where people support each other, ideas are welcomed, and your voice is heard.

We foster an open and inclusive culture where you’re valued for who you are. On top of that, we offer generous vacation allowance, comprehensive health benefits, and a culture that supports both balance and ambition.

The salary range for this role is $180,000–$190,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on role scope, relevant skills and experience, location, internal equity, and business needs.
