This is a contingent opportunity supporting the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), pending contract award. As a Systems Safety Engineer, you’ll play a key role in evaluating new technologies, supporting infrastructure upgrades, and ensuring safety is built into every phase of system design and deployment across TSA facilities.

General Description 

The Systems Safety Engineer provides technical support in systems safety engineering and systems engineering to assist the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) with acquisition and infrastructure safety initiatives.

This position supports safety assessments for new technology implementation, checkpoint and checked baggage area reconfiguration, and review of architectural and engineering documentation associated with new construction and facility modifications. The Specialist will coordinate job hazard assessments and provide technical analysis to support safe system integration and operational readiness across TSA facilities.

How You Will Fulfil Your Mission 

  • Support systems safety assessments related to acquisition and deployment of new screening technologies.
  • Assist with safety evaluations for checkpoint and checked baggage area reconfiguration projects.
  • Review architectural and engineering blueprints to identify potential safety risks.
  • Coordinate and support Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) for new installations and facility modifications.
  • Provide technical input during system integration and infrastructure updates.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and safety recommendations for TSA leadership.
  • Support enterprise-wide safety engineering initiatives as directed.

Specific Knowledge/Certification Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of technical expertise in systems safety engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of systems engineering experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting federal programs or acquisition environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
