This position is a 1.0 FTE position located in the Office of Special Education at the Syphax Education Center. The holder of this position reports directly to the Supervisor of Special Education

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

Complete appropriate assessments and reports for students referred for speech and language evaluations within required timelines.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that may include teachers, reading specialists, English Learner (EL) teachers, and other related service providers.

Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and service delivery models to meet individual student needs, with an emphasis on inclusion and access to the general education curriculum.

Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the review of assessment information for referred students.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.

Maintain accurate, current, and appropriate student data and records.

Participate in ongoing professional development and current educational research.

Support assistive technology assessments and related services.

Provide assessment and treatment services for multilingual students and English learners with disabilities.

Screen all students new to Arlington Public Schools.

Demonstrate the ability to write clear, concise evaluation and progress reports.

Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians.

Demonstrate familiarity with a variety of service delivery models and speech-language therapy treatment modalities.

Participate in pre-referral interventions for students.

Experience:

  • Experience in the areas listed above.
  • Knowledge of best instructional practices.
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology into instruction and services.
  • Experience in educational and instructional leadership.
  • Dual endorsement preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Licensure issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology in accordance with Board regulations for school speech-language pathologists.
  • Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language (ESL), Special Education, or another content area is preferred but not required.

Salary:
Salary is based on the 2026–27 T-Scale salary schedule.
