We are seeking passionate and talented professionals to join our team in delivering cutting-edge cybersecurity, IT operations, and risk management services. This exciting opportunity allows you to work alongside industry leaders, leveraging advanced technologies to support the FDIC's mission of maintaining public confidence in the financial system.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Engage with application teams, database administrators (DBAs), and network teams to deliver solutions for complex technical requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between IT leadership and Unix/Linux teams to ensure alignment between technical capabilities and business needs.
  • Lead efforts to integrate Unix/Linux systems with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including tools like AWS EC2, Azure VM, or container platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Support and maintain Unix/Linux environments running on virtualized platforms, such as VMware, KVM, or Hyper-V.
  • Analyze system metrics to identify and remediate bottlenecks or opportunities for optimization.
  • Utilize enterprise monitoring solutions to proactively monitor infrastructure health and performance.
  • Oversee data backups and disaster recovery strategies for Unix/Linux environments
  • Regularly review and mitigate vulnerabilities by performing system hardening and applying security patches
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce security controls to safeguard Unix/Linux systems and align with organizational security standards.
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and policies to ensure consistent management of Unix/Linux environments.
  • Maintain system patching, upgrades, and kernel updates to improve system reliability, security, and performance.
  • Oversee OS-level performance tuning, troubleshooting, and system optimization to meet SLAs for high-demand applications. 


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors and 9 or more years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-class virtualization environments.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot highly complex systems.
  • Advanced Unix Administrator certification.
  • Experience deploying Unix/Linux systems into hybrid or public cloud architectures.
  • Proficiency in server builds, patch management, and OS lifecycle processes.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all Unix/Linux systems.
  • Experience with ITIL standards and change management.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an FDIC Public Trust.  
  • Ability to successfully pass the SAIC Background investigation to establish a start date.

Desired:

  • Experience working with large-scale enterprises, managing 500+ Unix/Linux servers.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and integrating Unix/Linux environments with automation workflows.
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
  • LPIC-2 or LPIC-3 (Linux Professional Institute Certification).
