Position Summary

Upchurch is seeking a motivated Sheet Metal Apprentice to join our commercial construction team. In this role, you will assist with the installation, assembly, and fabrication of sheet metal and HVAC duct systems while learning the trade under the guidance of experienced Journeymen and Foremen. This position offers hands-on training and career growth opportunities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and assembly of commercial HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and other equipment safely and effectively.

  • Follow project plans, specifications, and instructions provided by supervisors.

  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all Upchurch and OSHA safety requirements.

  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized.

  • Participate in trade-related training and apprenticeship programs.

  • Support crew members with material handling, layout, and installation activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of sheet metal, HVAC, or commercial construction experience required.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Prior construction or sheet metal experience is a plus but not required.

  • Trade school or craft training preferred.

  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.

  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.

  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and work in a commercial construction environment.
