Job DescriptionĀ 

The Administrative AssistantĀ is responsible forĀ managingĀ building entryĀ andĀ greetingĀ HeadĀ Start families andĀ visitors, answeringĀ phone calls,Ā andĀ managing theĀ front desk. Prepares forms andĀ creates/designs flyers for programĀ activities;Ā completesĀ basicĀ dataĀ entry. Monitors the flow of paperwork and files. Facilitate communication between staffĀ and betweenĀ the program andĀ Head StartĀ families.Ā Performs a variety of administrative tasks for the department and division.Ā Must beĀ bilingual in EnglishĀ and Spanish.Ā 

  

Jefferson County Head Start is a comprehensive, no-cost infant/toddler and preschool program serving kids who are 6 weeks to 5 years old in Jefferson County (excluding Lakewood). SCHEDULE:Ā 

The position works Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, in-office at the Head Start Arvada location. There are no evenings or weekendsĀ required. Please note this is a year-round position.

Hiring Range: $21.50-$23.91Ā Hourly  

Full range- 20.62 - 25.78 - 30.93 USD HourlyĀ

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Ā

  • Sit at theĀ front deskĀ to greet visitors and manage secure building entry; answer and route phone calls to theĀ appropriateĀ individual. Communicate program information toĀ current and potentialĀ Head Start families. Receives mail, documents,Ā and packages. Orders supplies and requests maintenance.Ā Ā 

  • Maintains positive relationships withĀ HeadĀ Start familiesĀ andĀ staff members. Coordinates staff meetings and serves as meeting recorder.Ā MaintainsĀ positive public image for department and division.Ā Ā 

  • Performs administrative tasks in support of the department and division, including producing reports,Ā creatingĀ andĀ maintainingĀ documents,Ā data entry,Ā and completing projects. Ensures all providedĀ materialĀ isĀ accurate. Prepares supplies and materials for staff usage.Ā Ā 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Ā

QUALIFICATIONS:Ā

Minimum Qualifications:Ā Ā 

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.Ā 

  • Experience:Ā 1Ā year of work-related or volunteer-related experience.Ā 

  • Note an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.  

  • Must be bilingual in English and SpanishĀ 

Ā 

Preferred Knowledge,Ā SkillsĀ and Abilities:Ā 

  • More than three (3) years of customer service experience is highly preferred   

  • Experience with Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365    

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills  

  • Detail-oriented and experience with data entry and financial tracking   

  • Positive Attitude  

  • Being a reliable team player who is flexible/adaptable.  

  • Basic math skills.Ā 

  • Excellent customer service skills.  

  • Passionate about the education of young childrenĀ
