Yard Associate

The Yard Associate plays a key role in maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse and landscape supply yard. This position is responsible for loading and unloading delivery trucks, operating equipment, and assisting customers with product selection and loading. Success in this role requires strong organization, the ability to plan ahead, and effective prioritization of daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as loaders and forklifts to move and load products
• Load and unload delivery trucks safely and efficiently
• Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and yard
• Ensure all materials are properly identified, packaged, and labeled
• Inspect materials visually to confirm quality standards
• Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
• Plan, organize, and prioritize daily workload
• Complete required documentation at the end of each shift
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with loading and product questions
• Follow company policies and procedures and submit reports as needed
• Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others
• Demonstrate punctuality and consistent attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Forklift certification required
• Heavy equipment experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Proficiency in English (bilingual Spanish strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with inventory processes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Point of Sale (POS) experience a plus
• Basic computer skills a plus
• Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 25–75 lbs. regularly without assistance
• Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
• Regular stooping, bending, and use of hands and feet to operate equipment
• Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
• Occasional operation of power industrial trucks and heavy equipment

Work Environment

Work is performed onsite at a company store, including outdoor yard and warehouse areas. This role primarily operates in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind. The setting may include uneven terrain, dust, and equipment noise. Work may also occur inside equipment cabs with limited climate control. Schedule

This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. Hours may vary seasonally and may include weekends and occasional overtime based on business needs.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Pay Range: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
