Catering Summer Intern
Dates – May through August (flexible with schooling)
Position Overview
The Catering Intern supports the Catering Sales & Events team in delivering exceptional guest experiences through the planning, coordination, and execution of social and wedding events. This role provides hands-on exposure to luxury hospitality operations, allowing interns to observe and participate in the full event lifecycle—from initial inquiry to day-of execution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, service-minded, and eager to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Event Planning & Administrative Support
- Assist Catering Managers with preparing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), event resumes, timelines, and setup notes.
- Support pre-event communication with internal departments including culinary, banquet operations, A/V, and guest services.
- Organize client files, proposals, menus, and event documents to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
- Participate in vendor communication, proposal gathering, and updating preferred vendor resources.
Event Day Execution
- Support the Catering Manager onsite during weddings, corporate gatherings, and social events by observing logistics and guest service standards.
- Greet and guide vendors, assist with client needs.
Client & Guest Service
- Demonstrate warm, professional hospitality consistent with luxury service standards.
- Provide behind-the-scenes support to enhance overall guest experience.
- Assist with tastings, site visits, and client appointments as appropriate.
Learning & Development
- Shadow Catering Managers to gain exposure to sales, planning, and operational processes.
- Learn how to interpret BEOs, room diagrams, minimums, service charges, and event financials.
- Participate in training sessions and cross-departmental learning opportunities.
- Gain hands-on understanding of venue capabilities, food & beverage operations, and event flow.
Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate pursuing Hospitality, Event Management, Tourism, Business, or related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a warm, professional communication style.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Schedule is Tuesday - Saturday
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a genuine interest in luxury hospitality and event planning.
- Must have a valid driver's license
