Assistant Survey Project Manager

Land Development Surveying

Location: Arden, NC
Department: Surveying
Reports To: Sr. Project Manager / Survey Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

About the Role

FEI is seeking an Assistant Survey Project Manager to support land development surveying projects through accurate coordination, strong communication, and efficient management of survey resources. This role bridges the gap between field crews, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to FEI standards.

This is an office-based leadership role with regular coordination across multiple survey crews and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze field data and research to prepare boundary surveys, ALTA/loan surveys, plot plans, as-builts, and final plats
  • Interpret engineering drawings and coordinate survey points and grades for field staking
  • Prepare maps, files, and data packages for survey crews
  • Schedule and manage multiple survey crews to maximize utilization and efficiency
  • Serve as a technical resource for survey crews and office staff
  • Ensure accountability for survey equipment and maintenance
  • Coordinate effectively with engineers and other technical staff
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules, and financial performance
  • Assist with project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Support accurate project billing and time tracking
  • Participate in client meetings during business and occasional evening hours
  • Promote safety, ethics, teamwork, and FEI corporate goals

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of land development surveying experience
  • High School Diploma (Associate’s degree preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of boundary and construction surveying
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Experience with data collectors and survey equipment
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Survey Intern (SI) certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with Carlson, Topcon, and Leica systems
  • Familiarity with Ajera or similar project/financial management software
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews or managing technical staff

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Office-based position
  • Mon–Thu: 7:30am–5:30pm | Fri: 7:30am–11:30am
