Description of Work

Work in this class involves providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of highly skilled casework, group work, and community organization techniques in the psychosocial rehabilitation and adjustment of persons with severe physical illnesses, developmental disabilities or complex mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Services are provided in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, developmental centers, child care facilities, Head Start/Early Head Start, home settings, correctional and juvenile justice facilities. Work may involve in-depth assessment of family dynamics and needs, assessment and treatment of patients and or families with acute to severe emotional disorders, developmental disabilities and mental illnesses; or advanced social work intervention and instruction. Employees are responsible for coordinating with families, a variety of professional disciplines, community agencies and court officials. Employees may work with clients dealing with complex legal issues. Employees supervise and train lower level social workers, students, or social workers fulfilling requirements for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Employees report to program directors or unit supervisors.

  • Documented experience building and developing rapport with persons and families, evaluating a patient's risk of dangerousness, and applying appropriate interventions based on a thorough assessment and treatment plan.

The Clinical Social Worker is primarily responsible for provision of assessments, case management, and discharge planning, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy for ADATC patients.

This position is scheduled for Tuesday - Saturday, typically working from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.   Management will consider a trainee (LCSWA), if no fully qualified applicants apply.  Applicant must be licensed or licensed eligible.

About the Facility:
JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Master’s degree from an appropriately accredited school of social work. Licensure is required from NC SW Certification and Licensure Board. Necessary Special Qualification Requirements - One must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
