Description of Work

The primary responsibility of the Behavioral Health Care Technician (BHCT) is to provide support to the clients in working toward the goals and objectives of their treatment plans and to manage the milieu on each unit. This will be provided through their assistance to clients and the treatment team in the areas of fostering a therapeutic environment on the unit, helping clients in activities of daily living skills, helping the treatment team to monitor any medical, emotional, behavioral, or social problems, and supporting the clients in their efforts to overcome these issues. It is the responsibility of the BHCT to accompany and/or transport patients in need of medical services outside the facility. The BHCT manages the milieu of the unit by close observation and interaction with all patients. Although the BHCT may be assigned to a specific unit or shift, the BHCT is expected to provide coverage in any area as needed to provide a full range of services.

Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 - $38,688.00

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

We Will Be Recruiting For Multiple Positions With This Post. Your Application Will Be Considered For All Noted Open Positions.

We are currently recruiting for 12-hour Day shifts and 12-hour Night shifts. Some holidays, weekends, overtime, and flexibility required.

Hours are primarily 6:45am - 7:15pm or 6:45pm - 7:15am, with an 8-hour shift scheduled every other week for full-time (40 hour) staff. JFK offers a part-time option (36 hour) with prorated salary and benefits.

Shift Premiums

  • Nights: 20%
  • Weekends: 5%
  • Evenings: 20%
  • Holiday Premium: 50%

About the Facility: 

JFK is a 68-bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
