Experienced Dental Assistant - General & Advanced Dentistry

Are you a motivated, team-oriented Experienced Dental Assistant who is confident supporting advanced dentistry and complex procedures? We’re seeking an enthusiastic professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment, anticipates the needs of the doctor, and can confidently assist with both routine and more complex treatment.

Monday-Thursday - 8AM-5PM

What You’ll Do

As a key member of our team, you will help support smooth, efficient, and comfortable patient care by:

  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for dental procedures

  • Assist the dentist chairside using four-handed dentistry techniques

  • Confidently assist with complex and advanced dental procedures, including surgical and restorative treatment

  • Support the clinical team during sedation dentistry procedures, including appropriate patient preparation and monitoring within the assistant's training, credentials, and permitted scope

  • Anticipate the dentist's needs throughout procedures and maintain an organized, efficient clinical environment

  • Perform expanded dental assisting functions when appropriately trained, credentialed, and permitted under Virginia requirements

  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments, equipment, and operatories

  • Take dental radiographs and impressions as permitted and directed by the dentist

  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and postoperative care instructions

  • Maintain accurate patient records and update charts in the practice management system

  • Monitor inventory and inform Clinical Lead or Office Manager of supply needs

  • Follow OSHA, CDC, and HIPAA protocols to ensure patient and team safety

  • Support a team-first culture and uphold Squire Dental’s values in every interaction

  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements Involving: Ability to stand, sit, and assist with procedures for extended periods, manual dexterity to operate dental instruments and equipment, may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and infectious materials, use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required

  • Other duties as it relates to the position

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Previous dental assisting experience with the ability to confidently support a dentist during complex procedures

  • Experience assisting with advanced restorative, surgical, and/or sedation dentistry procedures

  • Qualified to perform dental radiographic procedures in accordance with Virginia requirements

  • Current CPR/BLS certification

  • Excellent communication and patient care skills

  • Strong chairside skills with the ability to anticipate the doctor's needs and work efficiently during complex treatment

Preferred:

  • Virginia Dental Assistant II (DA II) registration or expanded-function training

  • Experience with sedation dentistry and patient monitoring

  • Experience assisting with oral surgery, implants, endodontics, complex restorative procedures, and/or other advanced treatment

  • 2+ years of experience in a dental assisting role

  • Proficiency in dental software systems (Denticon)
