The Deli Cook is responsible for preparing fresh, high-quality foods for the deli and prepared foods department while maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and excellent customer service standards. This role supports daily deli operations by preparing menu items, maintaining food displays, and ensuring products meet Clark’s quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare deli and hot food items according to established recipes and production standards. Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, grills, slicers, and food processors safely and efficiently. Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures in compliance with health department regulations. Maintain clean and organized workstations, equipment, and food preparation areas. Monitor food temperatures and ensure all food safety and HACCP standards are followed. Assist with stocking, rotating, and labeling food products to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Maintain attractive and well-stocked hot and cold food displays. Support the deli team during busy periods by assisting with service, packaging, and customer requests. Communicate with supervisors regarding production needs, inventory levels, and equipment issues. Provide friendly, helpful customer service when interacting with guests. Qualifications Previous food preparation or kitchen experience preferred. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Frequent bending, reaching, and working with hot equipment. Ability to work in a refrigerated environment. Work Environment Work is performed in a deli and kitchen environment with exposure to hot surfaces, sharp tools, and kitchen equipment. Proper safety and sanitation procedures must always be followed.
