Performs routine and specialized floor care, including mopping, scrubbing, buffing, burnishing, stripping, and refinishing floors according to established policies and procedures. Operates and maintains floor care equipment and follows proper chemical usage, infection control, and safety procedures. Attention to detail and a positive attitude are a must. The right person is punctual, dependable, thorough but fast, and eager to learn. Experience with floor care, commercial cleaning, or cleaning in a medical facility is a plus. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Adheres to the company’s safety policies, operational procedures, and service standards. Maintains clean, safe, and presentable floors throughout assigned hospital areas. Sweeps and dust mops floors as needed prior to performing floor care. Mops floors using appropriate cleaning solutions and procedures. Operates floor care equipment, including automatic scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers, and other equipment as trained. Performs routine floor scrubbing and machine cleaning. Buffs and burnishes floors to maintain appearance and shine. Strips and refinishes floors according to established schedules and procedures. Cleans and maintains different types of flooring using the appropriate methods, chemicals, and equipment. Responds promptly to spills and other floor hazards to maintain a safe environment. Places appropriate warning signs and barriers when performing wet floor or machine work. Cleans edges, corners, baseboards, and areas around furniture and equipment as part of routine floor care. Uses cleaning chemicals and floor care products according to company procedures and manufacturer instructions. Maintains and properly cleans floor care equipment after use. Reports equipment problems, damaged flooring, or other maintenance concerns to management. Maintains adequate floor care supplies and keeps equipment and supply areas clean and organized. Follows hospital infection control procedures and practices universal precautions. Assists with other EVS duties and areas as needed and is flexible and willing to help where needed. PERIODICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs deep cleaning of hard-surface floors and other floor care projects as assigned. Cleans and details baseboards, floor edges, corners, and other areas affected by floor care activities. Performs scheduled cleaning and maintenance of floor care equipment. Assists with special floor care projects and other periodic EVS assignments as needed. QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Knowledge of cleaning equipment and processes preferred. Ability to make minor decisions concerning prioritizing work assignments. Aware of potential impact to facility and patients when performing cleaning functions. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: None MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: N/A   ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or G.E.D preferred. Experience is desirable but not essential. On-the-job training will be provided. Follows oral and written instructions and communicates effectively.
