What Does a Retail Team Member Do Anyway?

• Greet and interact with customers

Position Purpose and Objectives

America’s Thrift Stores is seeking Retail Team Members who take pride in creating a clean, organized, and easy-to-shop store environment. This role plays a critical part in keeping the sales floor reset, stocked, and visually organized throughout the day to ensure a great experience for every customer.

Successful team members are detail-oriented, proactive, and thrive in a fast-paced setting where maintaining order and cleanliness is key. This position focuses heavily on recovering the sales floor, returning misplaced items to their proper location, and ensuring merchandise is presented in a neat, consistent, and accessible way.

To support store needs, this role requires flexibility to work a rotating schedule, including mid-shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Continuously reset and recover the sales floor to maintain a clean, organized, and shop-ready environment
• Return misplaced items to proper departments and ensure accurate placement of merchandise
• Maintain neat, orderly racks, shelves, and displays throughout the store
• Ensure aisles and shopping areas remain clear, safe, and easy to navigate
• Support daily cleaning and upkeep of the sales floor and surrounding areas
• Assist with stocking and replenishing merchandise as needed
• Respond quickly to high-traffic areas to maintain organization and flow
• Provide friendly customer assistance when needed, including helping locate items
• Support register operations as needed, including responding to backup calls
• Follow company standards for merchandise handling and presentation
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by management

Skills and Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to stay active and work in a fast-paced environment
• Team-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude
• Ability to provide friendly and helpful customer interactions
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
• Ability to operate a cash register (training provided)
• Willingness to work a flexible, rotating schedule (including evenings and weekends)
