Compensation Grade:
09BASIC PURPOSE:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs the daily balancing and report distribution of the automated General Ledger system to include posting the Daily Report on the Bank’s Intranet.
- Reviews the clearing account entries in the daily general ledger processing and ensures that entries moved to the various suspense accounts are re-classed promptly to the correct general ledger account.
- Monitors the monthly pay downs of principal and interest for all mortgage-backed securities, oversees the submission of claims for differences or nonpayment, and prepares a reconciliation at end of month to reflect outstanding amounts.
- Reconciles the swap suspense account daily.
- Reconciles the derivative accounts daily (notional swap balance, Interest receivable and payable).
- Prepares the monthly reconciliation of the Letters of Credit fee account.
- Prepares the spreadsheet to support the entry for deferred Letters of Credit fees monthly.
- Performs or provides backup for other accounting staff.
- Performs the accounting functions related to the Affordable Housing Program and all related reconciliations.
- Reconciles operational accounts to the general ledger including Demand Deposits, Custodial Mortgage and the Federal Reserve.
- Recalculates interest on deposits for accuracy.
- Prepares and enters manual correcting and closing journals into the general ledger.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- In depth knowledge and experience of financial management, including mortgage-backed securities and derivative financial instruments is required.
- Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to understand, create, and analyze complex and often technical financial accounting and business concepts and information.
- Must possess problem-solving skills and work with minimal supervision.
- Must possess adequate personal computer skills in using Microsoft Office products.
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess a working knowledge of the Workday financial platform
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree in accounting, three to five years accounting work experience and a working knowledge of automated systems, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Certified Public Accounting candidate preferred.
Work Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Atlanta, GA office. This position may not be filled in New Jersey, either in-person or remotely.
Work Schedule: Onsite with an opportunity to work remote partially.
