Responsibilities

  • Serves as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice.
  • Major roles of the Clinical Specialist include those of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, change agent, and Clinical Guideline Manager. 
  • Utilizes clinical practice expertise to serve as a role model for collaborative practice model.
  • Develops clinical guidelines for high-risk/high cost patients through clinical pathwaysystems.
  • Conducts clinical research; assists nursing staff in applying research findings and pathwaydata analysis results as they relate to patient outcomes.
  • Monitors resource utilization to assure appropriate level of utilization.
  • Assists with the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, and standards of care;ensures consistency of clinical guideline documents and hospital-wide policies withrecognized regulatory and specialty standards.
  • Facilitates resolution of individual patient care variances.
  • Serves as a patient advocate and as a resource for complex patient care situations.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an Accredited College or University.
  • Minimum (3) years experience in clinical area.
  • Effective analytical and organizational skills, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate others and serve as a positive change agent.

Work Hours:

7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
