Job Description
Experience
- 3 years of experience in risk management or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in business, risk management, or health-related field
- Experience in pediatrics
- Three years of experience in people management
Education
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing
Certification Summary
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact or equivalent
- Certification required upon hire or must acquire within one year of hire (Certification in Professional Healthcare Risk preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated management and team-building skills
- Knowledge of hospital policy and procedures, pediatric clinical standards, Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory standards, and risk management principles/processes
- Knowledge of statistics and data collection principles
- Must be organized and capable of managing projects
- Strong communication, consulting, and problem-solving skills
Job Responsibilities
- Manages system-wide Clinical Risk Management Program.
- Assesses and analyzes organizational risk exposures and controls.
- Coordinates and conducts risk assessment surveys.
- Manages serious event response.
- Manages event disclosure.
- Provides system-wide risk management education.
- Reviews and provides risk recommendations related to patient care policies, procedures, and forms.
- Ensures reporting of potential claims and/or significant risk exposures to director of Risk Management and Patient Grievances.
- Monitors/oversees risk management projects.
- Monitors program effectiveness and provides Risk Management operational reports.
- Manages assigned Risk Management staff and participates in human resources process.
- Collaborates with other system departments to direct risk issues to appropriate channels for evaluation and resolution.
- Consults with general counsel as needed.
- Identifies potential areas of risk and develops/implements corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues.
- Is responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team, including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.
- Mentors team members to encourage personal and professional growth.
- Encourages ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.
