MedZed Chief Technology Officer


Position Title: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Employment Type: Full-time

Travel Requirement: Monthly two day Executive Leadership Retreats plus other travel as necessary.  (total estimate of 10 to 15% travel)

MedZed is a leader in delivering value-based, technology-enabled social support to high cost Medicaid members who are unreachable and disconnected from their primary care provider.  We combine innovative outreach and care models with technology to find and engage members, connect them to primary care and improve outcomes.  Our intervention yields reduced costs and assists our members in enhancing their quality of life. As we scale, we are seeking an accomplished Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to be part of the Executive Leadership Team with responsibility for shaping our technology vision and contributing to long-term strategy.  

Position Overview

The CTO will join MedZed’s Executive Leadership Team and set the strategic direction for all technology and data initiatives, ensuring MedZed’s roadmap aligns with business goals and positions the company as a market leader. This leader must blend strategic vision, operational curiosity and hands-on execution to thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.

 

The CTO will oversee MedZed’s internal and external technology ecosystem, including near shore development team and third-party MSP and MSSP partnerships to ensure secure and scalable operations. They will partner with operations to leverage MedZed’s Data Factory analytics platform, ensuring insights directly shape product innovation and improve profitability, scalability and total enterprise value. Additionally, the CTO will drive advancement of MedZed’s proprietary Salesforce HealthCloud platform, optimizing it as the foundation for service delivery, provider engagement, and member management.  The CTO will be a thought leader in helping the company increase wallet share and sell similar and new programs, including risk bearing contracts, with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute MedZed’s technology strategy, aligning product, data, and infrastructure with operations and financial growth objectives.

  • Partner with operations leaders to embed Data Factory insights into the organization and technology roadmap, ensuring data-driven decision-making drives the business.

  • Lead development, integration, and continuous improvement of MedZed’s proprietary Salesforce HealthCloud platform, making it a best-in-class solution for member and provider engagement.
  • Oversee MSP and MSSP partnerships to ensure operational excellence, scalability, and enterprise-grade security.
  • Champion the integration of AI/ML, LLMs, and advanced analytics into MedZed’s platforms to enhance care delivery, improve predictive capabilities, and unlock new value for members and providers.
  • Manage data governance, data quality, and compliance frameworks that support risk-based contracts and enterprise performance.
  • Drive IT resource allocation, KPI setting, and performance management to ensure scalability and ROI.
  • Establish and enforce best-in-class engineering standards, QA processes, and agile software development methodologies.
  • Develop workflows and tools that enhance efficiency, data quality, and collaboration across MedZed’s mobile workforce.
  • Mentor, recruit, and scale a high-performing technology team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Partner with the CEO, Board, operating team and other executive peers to advance MedZed’s mission and ensure technology enables business strategy.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership, with at least 5 years in healthcare technology and value-based care.

  • Proven success leading technology in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Expertise in healthcare IT, including EHRs, RCM systems, integrated healthcare solutions, and data platforms.
  • Deep understanding of AI/ML, LLMs, and Data Science applications in healthcare technology, including predictive analytics, natural language processing, and personalization of care.
  • Passion for operational excellence and enhancing operational workflows via technology solutions.
  • Strong background in web systems architecture, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise applications (Salesforce, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory).
  • Experience managing third-party MSP and MSSP vendors, with a track record of ensuring secure and reliable operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and scale technical teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to influence C-level leaders, teams, and external partners.
  • Strategic thinker with a relentless curiosity and drive to enhance results and enterprise value.
  • Passion for rolling up sleeves and getting stuff done.  
  • In-depth knowledge of security, compliance, and regulatory frameworks relevant to healthcare IT (e.g., HITRUST, HIPAA).
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred
  • Curious nature and relentless drive that increases enterprise value
