The Astounding Academy is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and organized Cook/Bus Driver to join our team. Position Summary
The Cook/Bus Driver is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals, managing food inventory and ordering, and safely transporting children to and from school and field trips. This position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the center and ensuring the health and safety of our scholars.
Responsibilities
Kitchen Duties
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with CACFP/Food Program guidelines.
- Maintain accurate food counts and inventory records.
- Order food and kitchen supplies as needed.
- Receive and unload food deliveries and properly stock supplies.
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain required documentation.
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
- Follow all Georgia licensing requirements and food safety regulations.
- Maintain an organized and efficient kitchen environment.
Transportation Duties
- Safely transport scholars to and from school and on field trips.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Ensure children are safely loaded and unloaded from the bus.
- Maintain transportation logs and required documentation.
- Keep the bus clean and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
- Follow all state and center transportation policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service with families and staff.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in food service and/or transportation preferred.
- Knowledge of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) preferred.
- Experience with inventory management and ordering food supplies.
- Ability to unload food trucks and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Food Safety Certification required.
- ServSafe Certification required or willingness to obtain.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience driving children or a school bus is preferred.
- Must pass all required background checks.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Must be dependable, flexible, and a team player.
