Description
Job Summary:
Performs general maintenance repairs on electrical, plumbing, doors, locks, flooring, lights, ceilings, walls, woodwork, landscaping, Â fire systems, and alarm systems. Â Ensures all areas of the Peachtree Road United Methodist Church's campus (400,000 sq. ft.) are in like-new condition. Â
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair lighting systems for proper operation; replace fluorescent tubes, defective ballasts, and incandescent bulbs.Â
- Troubleshoot and program lighting systems.
- Install and repair all exit signs and emergency lights to ensure proper operation.Â
- Install 120/208 volt electrical branch circuits.
- Install and repair low-voltage circuits.[e.g., landscape lighting, HVAC control circuits, CCTV, intercom systems, alarm circuits]
- Install data cabling and terminate cable ends.
- Check all bathroom plumbing systems for proper operation. Repair/replace as needed.
- Check all kitchen plumbing systems and fixtures. Repair/replace as needed.
- Check the heating system. Make sure grills and filters are clean.
- Check the church building structure for any defects and repair immediately if minor work is needed. Otherwise, report issues promptly to the Facility Manager.Â
- Pick up trash on the grounds daily.
- Ensure parking lots are free of junk, trash and garbage.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Promotes continuous improvement in workplace safety and safe environmental practice.
- Event set-ups as needed. This includes moving furniture.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Â
- Demonstrated skill in general maintenance, carpentry work, plumbing, electrical and landscaping.
- Basic tools for use in carpentry, electricity, plumbing, and landscaping.
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with church volunteers on special maintenance projects.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Understands and performs in a preventative maintenance setting.
- Can navigate and update a work order system.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual a plus.
- Attention to detail and a hospitality mindset.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb high ladders. Must be safety cautious at all times.
- Work on a ladder, lift, scaffolding or boom.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- One to three years as a full-time maintenance technician in a commercial or large campus setting.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as above-average temperatures, chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part of the job.
- The work environment involves exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions, including the use of protective equipment and MSDS.
- The work environment involves exposure to heights of 50 feet using lifts, scaffolding, and booms.
Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM. May be required to work evenings or weekends as projects require.
