Job DetailsJob Location: Atlanta - Atlanta, GA 30313Salary Range: $66,040.00 - $70,550.00 SalaryGWCCA EVENT SERVICES OVERVIEW   The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) Event Services function is responsible for delivering exceptional event experiences through comprehensive event planning, coordination, and operational execution across the Authority’s world-class venues. Through strategic client partnerships, cross-functional collaboration, and effective event oversight, Event Services ensures successful event delivery by aligning operational resources, managing event logistics, and providing responsive support that exceeds client expectations. The team plays a critical role in creating seamless experiences for customers, exhibitors, attendees, and partners while upholding GWCCA’s commitment to operational excellence, safety, and service.   GWCCA EVENT MANAGER POSITION SUMMARY   The Authority is currently hiring an Event Manager to serve as the primary client relationship manager and operational lead responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing assigned events across the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) campus. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Event Services, this position plays a critical role in delivering exceptional event experiences by translating client objectives into comprehensive event plans that support operational excellence, venue readiness, and the Authority's commitment to outstanding customer service. The Event Manager oversees the full event lifecycle—from initial planning through event execution and post-event closeout—ensuring events are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual agreements, operational requirements, and Authority policies. This position is responsible for coordinating event logistics, developing and communicating event specifications, facilitating cross-functional planning meetings, and serving as the central point of communication among clients, internal departments, contractors, exhibitors, vendors, and public safety agencies.   The Event Manager ensures the successful execution of assigned events through proactive planning, operational coordination, schedule management, and the timely resolution of issues before, during, and after events. The position maintains accurate event documentation and event management systems while monitoring service delivery, compliance with venue regulations, and adherence to established timelines, budgets, and customer expectations. Working collaboratively with the Director of Event Services, Assistant Director of Event Services, Senior Event Managers, Event Coordinators, and operational partners, the Event Manager supports departmental objectives, contributes to process improvements, shares operational knowledge and best practices, and helps ensure consistent service delivery across the Authority's diverse portfolio of conventions, trade shows, sporting events, entertainment events, and public gatherings.   The ideal candidate is a highly organized, customer-focused event management professional who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and demonstrates exceptional communication, relationship management, and problem-solving skills. This individual effectively balances multiple priorities while anticipating client needs, exercising sound judgment, and adapting quickly to changing operational demands. The model candidate serves as a trusted advisor to clients, a collaborative partner to internal and external stakeholders, and a valued member of the Event Services team by promoting operational excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Candidates under final consideration must complete a criminal history evaluation and drug screening as a condition of employment.     GWCCA EVENT MANAGER WORK ENVIRONMENT   Fast-paced, professional work environment in a dynamic convention, sports, entertainment, and hospitality venue.  Supports event-based business which may require irregular work hours, flexible scheduling, and availability to support evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events based on operational needs.   Work performed in varying event facilities and conditions across the Authority's campus (indoors and outdoors).   May be expected to perform or respond effectively to changing priorities, time-sensitive operational issues, and emergency situations while maintaining composure under pressure.  Requires frequent interaction with large crowds in public venues and event settings while maintaining professionalism, composure, and exceptional customer service.       GWCCA EVENT MANAGER PHYSICAL DEMANDS   Frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods throughout large convention centers, meeting facilities, outdoor venues, stadiums, and event spaces. Regularly traverses multiple buildings, event venues, loading docks, and campus facilities to monitor event setup, operations, and breakdown activities. Frequently ascends and descends stairs and may occasionally access elevated viewing or operational areas. Uses computers, tablets, mobile devices, telephones, radios, and other standard office equipment on a daily basis. Must possess the visual ability to review contracts, event diagrams, floor plans, schedules, and operational documents. Frequently communicates verbally with clients, team members, vendors, and contractors in person, by telephone, and through virtual platforms. Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, reaches, and crouches while inspecting event spaces and operational areas. May occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to respond quickly and move efficiently throughout the campus during active event operations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.     GWCCA EVENT MANAGER ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES  Plans, organizes and manages assigned events within the Georgia World Congress Center and Centennial Olympic Park. Review clients proposed event operation plan, including floor plans. Recommend to the client changes determined to be in the best interest of the client and the facility. Direct changes required by facility policies, procedures and regulations, or by rejection/modification of an operations plan which does not comply and for which voluntary compliance cannot be obtained. Responsible for managing events/meetings that include exhibit hall space, have a tradeshow component, corporate or VIP events working directly with client, general contractors & production companies. Prepare detailed event outlines and setup instructions to operating departments based on client specifications with consideration of facility capabilities, policies, contracts and other circumstances. Acts as primary on-site facility contact with client; coordinates and directs the staff to provide necessary services and equipment to implement client requirements and changes while monitoring event progress to ensure compliance in accordance with current facility policies and procedures. Recommend appropriate corrective actions as necessary. Review contracts to ensure all special provisions have been fulfilled per the agreement. Prepare, update and finalize cost estimates of event related charges. Manage on-site adjustments as necessary to assure compliance with safety measures. Acts on behalf of the facility and management to enforce policies and procedures and exercises independent judgment in all activities involving clients, event patrons and the general public.  Serves as manager on duty for the duration of assigned events and makes decisions independently appropriate to facility policies and procedures.  Collaborate with other Event Coordinators & Managers, operating departments, and service partners to ensure quality service to customers. Conduct pre- and post-event meetings with clients and operating departments. Plan, organize and maintain a productive work schedule as required by events assigned. Ability to multi-task & work under pressure with limited resources. High degree of integrity and compliance. Thoroughness in task approach, follow-up & completion. Ability to respond to problems and resolve issues with minimum supervision. Use appropriate technology to find and process information, while continuously looking for innovative ways to enhance our performance. Ability to work an irregular work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required to perform duties and responsibilities.     GWCCA EVENT MANAGER EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or related field preferred.
