Job Responsibilities
- Performs duties appropriate for Laboratory Assistant.
- Properly handles and processes specimens according to written procedures.
- Accurately prepares send-out requisitions and samples for referral testing
- Enter orders and receives all specimens in Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Performs quality assurance by monitoring pending logs, OL monitor for timed and STAT specimens, HRP and the LIS error logs. Utilizes shift to shift communication log. Document orders errors and specimen integrity issues.
- Performs other duties as required by the department.
- Provide assistance with the management of stocking and inventorying supplies.
- Maintains professional skills and competency to do assigned tasks.
- Demonstrates familiarity with and follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including those pertaining to safety and compliance.
- Uses critical thinking principles in making decisions that lead to desired outcomes.
- Actively promotes a Lean culture by performing duties to promote an understanding and consistent use of Lean principals and processes. Using an awareness of how the work performed is valued by the customer.
