JOB SUMMARY:

The Resiliency Manager position is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the implementation of Georgia Power’s Distributed Energy Resources (DER) based resiliency programs. The resiliency programs provide an enhanced level of service and economic benefit for customers that desire greater mitigation from energy delivery risk by extracting value from these DER for the benefit of all retail customers. The regulated programs included under this position’s purview include the DER Customer Program Pilot, DER Colocation Program, DER Customer Owned Program, Large Customer Owned Resiliency (LCOR) Program, and Curtailable Load (CL) Program. The DER assets that this team is focused on through the DER Customer Program include dispatchable resources such as backup generators and battery energy storage solutions located on the customer's premises. 

 This position will manage the customer journey through the development and implementation of DER projects with some of the Company’s largest and most influential customers. This position will also work with internal partners to educate and support providing solutions through the deployment of assets under the resiliency programs. Other important functions of this position will include meeting all regulatory requirements (i.e. filings, data requests, witness preparation, etc.), managing capital and O&M budgets, and serving as an advocate for the Company’s position on DER and resiliency issues to influential audiences, including large existing and prospective customers, industry groups, regulators, internal partners, and other stakeholder groups.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering discipline
  • Proven record of communicating effectively externally with large influential customers
  • Proven record of communicating effectively internally across a broad set of functions and organizations 
  • Experience leading teams in an environment that blends technical and business acumen is preferred
  • Experience developing proposals and project management associated with a variety of complex projects is preferred
  • Experience working for or closely with GPC Customer Solutions, Regulatory Affairs, Pricing & Rates, Resource Planning, Distributed Generation, and SCS Generation Planning & Development is preferred
  • Experience working on regulatory filings or working with Georgia PSC staff is a plus

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for providing support and guidance for state-wide efforts to deploy the DER strategy, services, and program

  • Serve as subject matter expert on the resiliency programs from both a regulatory and internal process perspective
  • Engage and collaborate with Georgia PSC staff and intervenors on the implementation of the resiliency programs and their future evolution as a platform for serving customers’ needs
  • Responsible for overseeing the ongoing development of the framework and leadership that support the Company’s expansion into distributed infrastructure sales and contracting
  • Responsible for meeting resiliency programs’ goals through development of leads, initial contact with customers, proposal development, service agreement contracting, and developing creative technical and commercial solutions with internal and external partners
  • Provide leadership and work direction to the team regarding prioritizing efforts, determining program fit, developing the business case, leading contract negotiations, and supporting the engineering, design, and construction of DER assets
  • Engage with various asset and technology providers, vendors, and other potential partners to ensure that GPC is providing customers with high quality, reliable, and cost-effective assets to meet their needs
  • Engage with executives at customers’ (or potential customers’) sites to develop the scope of work to support DER projects

  • Engage the following GPC and SCS internal groups including Power Generation, Generation Planning & Development Economic Development, Region External, Pricing & Planning, Legal, Managed Accounts, Regulatory, Finance, Accounting, Transmission, Distribution, National Accounts, Solutions Sales, and New Ventures to develop the scope, perform risk assessment, and incorporate lessons learned necessary for the project’s success
  • Engage with other utilities to discuss best practices, strategies, and technologies for deploying DER assets
