We are currently seeking a motivated Platform Specialist to join the Mission Systems Engineering team at Hermeus!Â
\n- Build, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Ground Control Stations. Â
- Install, configure, and maintain flight critical IT systems, communication tools, and mission-enhancing hardware/software. Â
- Install, configure, and maintain pilot-in-the-loop cockpits for Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs). Â
- Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mission systems. Â
- Design, configure, and maintain network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, Access Points (wireless), and VPNs. Â
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Â
- Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems. Â
- Implement and maintain network security, including access controls, intrusion detection systems, and threat prevention. Â
- Manage and administer network services such as DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (IPAM). Â
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures. Â
- Collaborate with other IT teams to support infrastructure projects and resolve complex technical issues. Â
- Be willing and able to support the deployed platform (on a rotation basis) during weekends, off hours. Â
- Willing and able to travel for 1-2 weeks at a time during test operations/campaigns. Â
- Stay up to date with emerging network technologies, best practices, and NIST guidelines. Â
- Associates degree in information technology/systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field. Â
- 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role (Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Engineer, Cybersecurity Engineer, Software Engineer). Â
- Proficient in Linux.Â
- Proficient in basic electronics maintenance and repair. Â
- Proficient in the maintenance/termination serial port connectors (RS232, etc.), and CAT5/6. Â
- Proficient in basic electronics packaging (design, assembly, cable routing, cooling, etc.). Â
- Proficiency working at all layers of the OSI network model. Â
- Proficiency designing and maintaining layer 2 networks. Â
- Comfortable reading and maintaining low voltage wiring diagrams.Â
- Experience creating, explaining, and maintaining network architectures, network topology diagrams, and other interface diagrams/specifications. Â
- Ability and desire to travel for 1-2 weeks at a time to work on-location with the Ground Control Station at various military bases and airports.Â
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and network hardware. Â
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and associated Office suite of tools: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams. Â
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Â
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Â
- 10+ years' experience designing, integrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining complex aerospace platforms’ I.T. infrastructure. Â
- Proficiency in low level network programming (socket programming), design, and troubleshooting. Â
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure). Â
- Familiarity with Palo Alto and Juniper network devices.Â
- Background in government or cleared contractor networks.Â
- Experience with FedRAMP authorized cloud solutions (AWS Govcloud, Azure GCC-H, etc..) is a plus.Â
- Experience with network cybersecurity tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, AWS network security tools, Microsoft Defender, etc. Â
- Palo Alto Certification (PCCET, PCNSA, PCNSE, etc.).Â
- Juniper Certification (JNCIS, JNCIP, etc.).Â
- SANs Certification (GSEC, GCIA, GMON, GDSA, etc.).Â
- CompTIA Certification (Network+, Security +, CASP+, etc.).Â
