The SeniorFirmware Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of the embedded software for optical transceiver assemblies and plugs within the Coherent Pluggable product unit. The engineering expert will work closely with Optical, Hardware, and Test engineers to ensure product goals are met. Â

Duties and Responsibilities:Â
Â
Perform all aspects of embedded firmware design and development, including architecture, design, implementation, testing, and debuggingÂ
Write device drivers for complex ASIC’s, FPGA’s, and other componentsÂ
Contribute to hardware design and participate in hardware design reviewsÂ
Support the initial turn-up of new hardwareÂ
Work with optical, hardware, and test engineers in an Agile development environment to ensure team and productgoals are metÂ
Develop automation scripts to validate and test the product firmwareÂ
Develop user interfaces for transceiver assemblies and plugsÂ
Assist in the design and implementation of manufacturing test fixturesÂ

Basic Qualifications:Â
Â
Bachelor’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering or relatedÂ
Proficient in C/C++ programming for embedded softwareÂ
Adhere to software development best practices including C++ coding standards and Agile/Scrum practicesÂ
Â
Debugging software experienceÂ
Real-time operating systems experienceÂ
Familiar with ARM or other microcontrollersÂ
Familiar with UARTs as well as SPI and I2C protocolsÂ
Proficient with reading schematics and using an oscilloscopeÂ
Familiarity with optical networking (OTN, Gigabit Ethernet) is a plusÂ
Proficient with source code control systems such as git.Â
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsÂ

Requirements & Work Environment:Â
Â
Occasional traveling (< 10%) to support customers/vendors working with Adtran and using Adtran’s productsÂ
Permanent, full-time position Â
40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, in-officeÂ
Primary location in Norcross, GA USAÂ
Must be authorized to work in USAÂ
