Work Shift: 11pm-7:30am Monday - Friday with alternating Saturdays.

The Target Pay for this position is $16.78 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview 

 

 The Serology Lab Aide is responsible for the collection and preparation of samples to be tested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Collect and build samples to a load 

  • Centrifuge samples and make aliquots for sample testing as required. 

  • Find missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list. 

  • Library all samples 

  • Maintain all departmental equipment 

  • Knowledge of lab equipment and procedures 

  • Awareness of quality control and calibration 

  • Crosstrain and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.  

  • Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.  Maintains clean and organized work area.  Restocks supplies as needed 

  • Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation. 

  • Consult with senior peers on non-complex Serology tasks to learn through experience   

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, 2- or 4-year degree in science-related field preferred.  

  • Prior lab experience preferred 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments. 

  • General science background, including hematology/chemistry  

  • Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Solid communication skills- written and verbal 

  • Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written direction 

  • Positive, can-do attitude 

  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office 

Working Conditions 

  • Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours 

  • Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently 

  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch 

  • Required to lift, move, and carry up to 50lbs 

  • The ability to observe details at close range 

  • Extended hours may be needed 

  • Laboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE 

  • Works under close to moderate Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision.
