We are actively looking for our Transportation Structures Department Lead to join our Atlanta office.  This role leads engineering staff and serves as Engineer of Record on multiple design projects for a wide variety of transportation related structures such as bridges, retaining walls, bridge culverts, etc.  This role will continue the growth of the structures group while driving the strategy of the department in both our Midtown and Peachtree Corners offices.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead structural engineer for transportation structures
  • Lead/develop staff and manage projects, including cost estimating, budgets, scheduling and documentation preparation, QA/QC, and support and evaluation
  • Recommend contracting strategies
  • Contribute to construction support services
  • Resolves complex design problems using subject matter expertise
  • Lead/Supervise detailed design and plan preparation tasks performed by staff
  • Lead/Supervise finite element static and dynamic structural modeling of structures
  • Coordinate plan preparation tasks with engineering staff/drafting technicians
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
  • Provide quality reviews of drawings and calculations
  • Interacts directly with clients
  • Assist on and lead proposals and business development opportunities with new and existing clients

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; required
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in the State of Georgia or eligible to obtain within 6 months; required
  • 15+ years of experience in leading design tasks, bridge structural analysis, planning, design (new and rehabilitation), and preparation of construction drawings, contract documents, and construction support services for highway bridge and wall projects; required
  • GDOT Bridge Design experience strongly desired
  • Steel, concrete and prestressed concrete bridge design experience
  • Bridge, rail, and site inspection management experience desirable
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Working conditions:

Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain.
