Training Lead/Analyst (L5-6)

Project Shared Services Department

This posting is for one Training Lead/Analyst position supporting Project Shared Services workforce development, onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives across Front-End Planning and Project Controls.

This role will report to the Engagement & Support Manager and serve as the primary owner of training program implementation, learner development, and workforce capability building across the organization.

Training Lead - Locations may include the Energy Center in Birmingham, AL, or Georgia Power Headquarters in Atlanta, GA

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and continuously improving training and development programs across Project Shared Services (PSS). The Training Lead serves as the primary point of coordination for workforce development initiatives designed to enhance technical, operational, and professional capabilities throughout the organization.

A key responsibility of this role is leading the implementation, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement of the Project Controls Analyst Development Program, including onboarding, technical training, mentoring activities, rotational experiences, progress tracking, and development assessments. The Training Lead will partner with managers, supervisors, subject matter experts, and organizational leaders to ensure employees are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to support successful project execution and career growth.

Beyond the Project Controls Analyst Development Program, this position will support the broader learning and development needs of Project Shared Services, including Front-End Planning and Project Controls. The role will assess organizational training needs, develop learning strategies, coordinate training delivery, track workforce readiness, and provide recommendations that strengthen employee capability and organizational performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience in workforce development, training program management, project management, organizational development, or related disciplines, along with strong stakeholder engagement, communication, facilitation, and continuous improvement skills.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required

  • Professional certifications in training, learning and development, project management, change management, instructional design, or related disciplines are preferred

Experience:

  • Level 5: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in training, workforce development, project management, organizational effectiveness, project controls, business operations, or related disciplines

  • Level 6: Minimum 7+ years of experience leading training programs, workforce development initiatives, organizational learning efforts, or large-scale employee development programs

  • Experience developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating training programs preferred

  • Experience working with subject matter experts to develop learning content, knowledge resources, and professional development pathways preferred

  • Experience managing multiple initiatives and priorities within a collaborative, cross-functional environment required

  • Experience in utility, engineering, construction, project management, project controls, or capital project environments preferred

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of adult learning principles, workforce development practices, and employee development programs

  • Knowledge of training program development, curriculum management, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, and learning evaluation methodologies

  • Understanding of project-based organizations and the technical disciplines supported within Project Shared Services

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement principles, performance measurement, and stakeholder engagement practices

Skills:

  • Strong facilitation, communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously

  • Ability to develop, coordinate, and monitor training plans, learning resources, and workforce development programs

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess needs, interpret feedback, and recommend improvements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and learning technologies, with the ability to learn and implement new tools as needed

  • Ability to influence without direct authority and build partnerships across multiple levels of the organization

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Training Program Leadership:

  • Lead the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of workforce development programs across Project Shared Services

  • Develop and facilitate a training program for cross-functional Project Controls disciplines

  • Develop and maintain training roadmaps, learning paths, onboarding plans, competency frameworks, and development resources

  • Establish training objectives, success measures, and development milestones aligned with organizational needs

  • Coordinate training activities and ensure consistency across programs, functions, and locations

Project Controls Analyst Development Program:

  • Serve as the program lead for the Project Controls Analyst Development Program

  • Coordinate orientation activities, onboarding, technical training, mentoring, job shadowing, and rotational development opportunities

  • Monitor participant progress and maintain development records, milestone tracking, and program reporting

  • Partner with managers, supervisors, mentors, and subject matter experts to evaluate participant growth and readiness for expanded responsibilities

  • Provide program updates, recommendations, and development metrics to leadership

Training Needs Assessment and Workforce Development:

  • Assess organizational training and development needs across Front-End Planning and Project Controls

  • Partner with leaders to identify skill gaps, workforce readiness needs, succession planning opportunities, and development priorities

  • Recommend and implement learning strategies that support employee growth and organizational effectiveness

  • Support development of career pathways and professional growth opportunities across Project Shared Services

Curriculum Development and Learning Resources:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop, update, and maintain training materials, reference guides, job aids, and learning resources

  • Ensure learning content reflects current processes, procedures, standards, governance requirements, and best practices

  • Incorporate lessons learned, stakeholder feedback, and organizational priorities into training materials

  • Identify opportunities to leverage innovative learning methods, technologies, and delivery approaches

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with PSS managers, supervisors, technical SMEs, and supporting organizations

  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure alignment on workforce development priorities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on training and development matters

  • Support organizational initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, knowledge sharing, and workforce capability

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain training metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms used to evaluate program effectiveness

  • Monitor participation, completion rates, competency development, and workforce readiness indicators

  • Analyze feedback and performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement

  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership regarding training effectiveness and organizational development needs

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously assess and improve training, onboarding, and workforce development processes

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging best practices related to training, employee development, and organizational effectiveness

  • Identify opportunities to improve stakeholder engagement, learning experiences, and workforce readiness across the organization

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and feedback that supports employee growth and strengthens organizational capability

  • Support development and implementation of tools, templates, and resources that enhance training effectiveness and consistency
