The Maintenance and Operations Department is seeking (1) Air Conditioning Mechanic II to join the already awesome team, taking the Building Maintenance Department to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate will perform skilled manual work involving the repair and installation of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating equipment. In addition to supporting the department's Air Conditioning Mechanic II, will also:

  • Overhauls and services refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating units by repairing or replacing worn parts.
  • Inspects equipment for needed repairs and performs routine maintenance.
  • Tests refrigeration units for leaks; adds gas to refrigeration units.
  • Monitors valves and gauges to ensure proper operation; adjust valves, pipes, etc., as needed.
  • Changes and cleans oil and air filters.
  • Operates Centrifugal and Reciprocating chillers.
  • Assists in installing air conditioning and heating units, and related equipment.
  • May assist in training lower-level employees.
  • Cleans work areas and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     



Minimum Requirements:

  • Technical or vocational degree and two years of HVAC experience, a high school diploma or GED and four years of HVAC experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of procedures, tools, and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
  • Practical oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to access confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in open areas, such as rooftops, etc.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment used in the HVAC trade.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to multi-task, pay attention to detail, train and supervise staff, lift approximately 50 pounds, exhibit excellent customer service, and interpret building drawings.
