Job Details

Our Atlanta, GA office is seeking a Sample Receiving Laboratory Assistant to support the receipt, documentation, and coordination of laboratory testing activities. Geocomp – GeoTesting Express (GTX) provides comprehensive geotechnical laboratory testing services for soil, rock, geosynthetics, and other subsurface materials. Our work supports site characterization, geotechnical design, quality control, and performance assessment across a wide range of projects.

Leveraging state-of-the-art automated testing equipment, advanced processes, and laboratory automation, GTX delivers fast turnaround times and reliable, high-quality test results. Our commitment to uncompromised quality helps reduce client risk and ensures all testing is performed in accordance with published industry standards.

About the Team

You will join a collaborative and safety-focused team of laboratory professionals dedicated to accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement. The team values teamwork, clear communication, and innovation, and provides hands-on training and support to help you succeed and grow within the organization.

Key Responsibilities include:

Sample Login

  • Coordinate with clients in regards to their testing program
  • Label and barcode samples
  • Deliver rush samples to appropriate technicians
  • Relay pertinent information to technicians regarding testing programs
  • Coordinate with lab managers when necessary
  • Retrieve shipped samples from delivery and client drop offs

Testing

  • Locate/identify appropriate testing lab to do testing
  • Coordinate sample pick up/sample shipment to subcontractor labs
  • Production testing (as needed)

Sample Management

  • Ensure sample storage area is properly maintained in a timely manner
  • Maintain contaminated sample log
  • Contact clients regarding sample return
  • Coordinate pickups/shipments to client

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a geotechnical laboratory environment (strong plus, but not required)

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This position is based in a laboratory environment and requires the ability to bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand and/or sit for extended periods at a lab bench or desk.
