RaceTrac Company Overview

Job Description:

Senior Manager, Accounting – Business Initiatives

This role serves as a strategic partner to RaceTrac’s accounting leadership team during a period of continued enterprise growth, operational complexity, and transformation. Rather than owning a single functional vertical, this position operates as an extension of senior leadership—helping prioritize work, drive execution across high‑impact initiatives, and bring structure and clarity to complex, cross‑functional efforts. The Senior Manager provides leverage to the VP of Accounting by coordinating projects that span accounting, finance, operations, systems, and compliance, ensuring alignment, accountability, and momentum across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with accounting leadership to plan, prioritize, and execute strategic, enterprise‑level initiatives.

  • Lead and coordinate cross‑functional projects involving Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Internal Audit, Operations, and IT.

  • Serve as a liaison between accounting leadership and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment, communication, and follow‑through.

  • Support internal and external audits, regulatory requirements, and enterprise compliance activities.

  • Identify risks, control gaps, and inefficiencies; recommend and drive practical solutions.

  • Lead process optimization efforts across accounting workflows and support system enhancements (Workday experience a plus).

  • Represent accounting leadership in meetings with senior leaders and cross‑functional partners.

  • Translate complex technical accounting topics into clear, actionable guidance for non‑accounting audiences.

  • Take a hands‑on approach to issue resolution and project execution when needed.

Success Measures (First 3–12 Months)

  • Establish trusted, high‑credibility relationships with accounting leadership and key cross‑functional partners.

  • Bring structure, clarity, and accountability to multiple ongoing initiatives and projects.

  • Successfully coordinate internal/external audit cycles with minimal disruption and timely deliverables.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, controls, or reporting quality.

  • Demonstrate strong judgment and executive presence in representing accounting leadership.

  • Show the ability to “live in the gray” by making sound decisions with incomplete information.

  • Become a go‑to problem solver who can connect disparate parts of the organization and move work forward.

Required Skills & Experience

  • CPA required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (advanced degree preferred)

  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Public accounting background (audit strongly preferred)

  • Experience in finance transformation, internal audit, SOX, or accounting operations

  • Experience supporting large, complex, or multi‑entity organizations

  • Demonstrated success leading initiatives or projects without formal authority

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Process‑oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Experience working within large ERP environments; Workday experience preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to system implementations or major ERP enhancements

  • Background in PE‑backed, high‑growth, or operationally complex environments

  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and fast‑paced settings

Who You’ll Work With

  • Reports to: Vice President of Accounting

  • Works closely with:  Accounting leadership, FP&A, Tax, Internal Audit, Operations, Information Technology

  • Part of a team that values collaboration, communication, accountability, and driving enterprise impact
