Job Description
Experience
- 7 or more years in Stationary/steam Plant Operations and Maintenance
- Experience in supervising different levels of personnel and developing good customer service relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare experience
- Water treatment experience
- Schematics and plan reading experience
- Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in engineering or equivalent experience in Stationary Plant repair and maintenance required
Certification Summary
- Minimum 4th class Stationary Engineer License issued by the State of Georgia or by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) required or to be obtained within 24 months of employment
- Valid Georgia driver’s license and insurable driving record
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of steam plant operations, steam plant safety requirements
- Experience with commercial chillers and diagnostic experience, in addition to electrical experience related to motor control systems, emergency generators and transfer switch systems
- Experience in pump repair/replacement, valve repair/replacement, cooling tower repair
- Ability to supervise different levels of personnel and direct and coordinate multiple assigned projects
- Expertise in reading blueprints, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing drawings
- Ability to interpret equipment specifications, operations, and maintenance manuals
- Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and Joint Commission requirements
- Effective leadership interpersonal, and motivational skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to drive and operate Children's vehicles
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for operating and driving Children's vehicles throughout the organization as needed and to specified vendors or sites based on operational needs.
- Assists the manager to provide training, leadership, and staff development.
- Supervises the operation, maintenance and repairs of boilers, chillers, pumps, pneumatic control air systems, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Maintains and manages relevant logs and reports, conducts safety inspections and testing of safety equipment.
- Manages and provides continuous oversight of computerized building management systems, fire alarm systems, and transport systems serving the overall facility.
- Assists in establishing and maintaining all work schedules, issuing work orders, and ensuring the timely and professional completion of all tasks.Â
- Assists in the establishment of maintenance benchmarks and measurable outcomes on various departmental processes, including staff performance measurements.
- Checks and maintains required record of all necessary equipment readings, ensuring that all equipment is operated and maintained at optimum efficiency and in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Assists in coordinating an efficient energy management program.
- Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and measurable goals and objectives for the department.
- Assumes the functions of a mechanic whenever necessary.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the staff, including but not limited to work assignments, task management, time tracking/management, and on-the-job training.
- Takes an active role in coaching and mentoring the team to ensure continued employee growth and success both on the CUP team and at the broader CHOA organization.
- Assists manager with employee performance evaluations and hiring decisions.
